Payment Card Industry Services
With an increasing number of organizations accepting payment by credit card for goods and services, there is a growing need for these companies to secure and protect cardholder data. The four major credit card brands (American Express, JCB, MasterCard, and Visa) came together to create the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council. Â From that body came the PCI Data Security Standards (DSS), with the intent of ensuring that customers' credit card information is adequately protected. All businesses that store, process, or transmit credit card data, regardless of size, need to understand the scope of PCI DSS and what being compliant means to them.
The goal of AppLabs' PCI Services is to help organizations evaluate their PCI DSS compliance. As a PCI-certified QSA and ASV, we offer services in two areas to help our customers:Â PCI compliance assessment services (QSA), and PCI compliance scans (ASV).
A QSA assessment evaluates an organization’s compliance with PCI DSS requirements. AppLabs conducts the formal assessments and can consult in pre-assessment activities. Through the PCI ASV scan, AppLabs reviews an organization’s entire public-facing network for vulnerabilities that might lead to a compromise of cardholder data. Most companies that accept credit cards for payment are required to have this type of review on a quarterly basis.
Being PCI compliant reduces the risk of fines from the credit card companies in the event of a security breach, ensures that the network infrastructure and the business processes meet the PCI DSS standard, and ultimately helps protect cardholder data.
