AppLabs hosts DSCI meet in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, India: AppLabs, the world's largest software testing and quality management company, today announced that the company hosted the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) Hyderabad chapter meeting at its head office in the city. Attended by over 50 CIOs/CISOs of Hyderabad based companies, the program is aimed at creating security awareness and fostering closer interaction among industry, academia and the government agencies.
Commenting on the initiative, Pramod Reddy, AVP, ICT, AppLabs and also the Co-Anchor of DSCI Hyderabad Chapter said that "The DSCI Hyderabad chapter is organizing regular meetings to enhance the security awareness in the region and creating a platform for sharing best practices and building a security framework aligning with global standard."
The event inaugural keynote address was delivered by Makarand Teje, President and CEO of AppLabs.
Kamlesh Bajaj, CEO of DSCI said "We have launched DSCI chapters in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune Kolkata and Hyderabad to help in creating awareness and foster security communities within the country. It is indeed satisfying to see the way Hyderabad Chapter has progressed and created an active community of security professionals since its inception in May 2009."
He further said "the foreign customers are greatly concerned about protection of their data and DSCI as a Self Regulatory Organisation will establish, popularize, monitor and enforce data protection and privacy standards for IT and BPO industry. As a self regulatory initiative, DSCI is getting ready with its Best Practices and the SRO Framework that will be a step in the direction of data protection and privacy standards implementation in the country. DSCI expects to announce these to the industry in a seminar in the last week of August 2009."
The Mission of DSCI is to create trustworthiness of Indian companies as global sourcing service providers, and to reinforce to its clients worldwide that India is a secure destination for outsourcing where privacy and protection of customer data are enshrined in the global best practices followed by the industry. Some of the main topics being discussed at the forum include Legal Framework /IT Act 2008 and Cryptology.
